Filmmaker Guillermo del Toro, with the support of Cinepolis, granted scholarships to three young people to study a Masters degree in Arts “Animation of Characters and Animation of Animated Cinema” in GOBELINS, l’ecole de l’image, considered to be the best animation school in the world.
GOBELINS has been ranked №1 Animation School worldwide.
“We had an incredible response to the call. With great difficulty, the GOBELINS school selected three equally promising animators. Due to this fact, Cinépolis and I have decided to grant three exceptional scholarships in 2018” said Guillermo del Toro.
Christian Arredondo, Ramiro Tamez and Gabriela Camarillo, were the three young students selected based on their technical and artistic excellence, their motivation and their socio-economic circumstances, according to a statement by Cinepolis.
The scholarship allows talented young people to be accepted in this master’s degree program in Paris through the payment of tuition and maintenance, which will be from September 2018 to June 2020, so they will be part of the 2018-2020 generation in a class composed of 26 students from 16 different countries.
It was at the 15th edition of the Morelia International Film Festival (FICM) that the filmmaker announced the launch of the ANIMEXICO program, as sponsor of the 2018 promotion of Animation students at GOBELINS.
The course will allow them to deepen their knowledge in realization and narrative, in addition, working as a team in different projects, will allow them to acquire a versatility combined with a level of excellence recognized by professionals in France and internationally. At the end of the program, they will participate in a graduation film project in conditions close to those they will encounter in the professional world.
“The financial situation should not be an obstacle. We privilege, above all things, the creative potential, the mastery of the art of motion and finally, the personal universe. At GOBELINS, the diversity of profiles and cultures are real values ”, said Nathalie Berriat GOBELINS director.
