In the 2018 edition of the International Balloon Festival in León Guanajuato, people will not be allowed to camp inside the Metropolitan Park. According to Arturo Rodríguez, president of the Council. Rodríguez said that the event organizers will designate a different camping space.

According to the official, the new camping regulations will be explained and specified by the organizing committee of the event. He added that the designated space is a private property next to the park.

“In this edition, there will be no camping within the facilities of the park, whoever wants to spend the night in their tent, will have to do it in a specific area designated by the festival organization committee, outside the park”, he explained.

Arturo Rodríguez, said that just like last year, FIG organizers believe that these camp spaces are divided into two categories: juvenile and family. the designated area will have direct access to the park, as well as entry through public roads.

“We feel that this event is way too massive to additionally have people camping within the premises. And by designating a special area outside the park, people can have more safety, control, and a better experience overall”, Rodríguez emphasized.

The initiative to review the logistics of the camping sites, has its origin in the 2017 edition, of which Germán Enríquez, director of the Metropolitan Park, acknowledged that the over 40,000 designated spaces were insufficient.
