From November 22 to 25 the Ninth edition of the José Alfredo Jiménez International Festival will take place in the municipality of Dolores Hidalgo, in our beloved state of Guanajuato.
This festival has the purpose of commemorating the 45th anniversary of the illustrious composer and singer from Guanajuato, José Alfredo Jiménez, who is an icon not only for the state but for the whole country.
The international Festival José Alfredo Jiménez 2018 will feature cultural events, film series, bohemian serenades and “cantina” tours.
This event is a must-see for any traveler that wants to learn about the traditions of the municipality of Dolores Hidalgo, so municipal authorities are inviting all Guanajuatenses, as well as national and international tourists to come and enjoy this festival.
About José Alfredo Jiménez
José Alfredo Jiménez-Sandoval (19 January 1926 – 23 November 1973) was a Mexican singer-songwriter of ranchera music, whose songs are considered an integral part of Mexico’s musical heritage. Jiménez was born in Dolores Hidalgo, Guanajuato. José Alfredo wrote dozens of songs that are now an essential part of the Mexican culture.
