There are few places that are so cosmopolitan and in constant transformation where you can escape for a weekend from the chaos of the CDMX like San Miguel de Allende. Just three hours from the capital, you arrive at a paradise, which on several occasions, has been named the best city in the world to live.
And one of the main attractions, besides its colonial streets and colorful architecture, are its spectacular hotels. But there is one in particular that you have to visit, just to see its new Pool & Bar that was recently opened: Hacienda Los Picachos.
This complex is located in what was once an equestrian ranch, home to high quality “thoroughbred” horses. Now, it is a place full of luxury, where guests are invited to stay in elegant and contemporary rooms that are identified with the names of the mares, stallions and colts that once roamed the pastures.
Its 12 Grand Suites of two levels are spectacular: luxury details with a country chic style, floor to ceiling windows and a fantastic terrace. Everything is designed to see the sun rise or set on the majestic mountains tht surround SMA, providing an exclusive rustic comfort.
The only thing that this hotel needed was a pool to enjoy the sun or the cool nights of San Miguel, something that was recently solved with the inauguration of a spectacular Pool & Bar designed by Luis Fabián Flores, iconic creator of Casa Armida.
The interior design of this pool will make you forget any stress and will help you relax thanks to a contemporary decoration, with industrial elements, stone sculptures of skulls and snakes that give the place a unique an avant-garde touch; Water falls and Venetian mosaic in the background, which, with Gothic letters, spells the word “family”.
In addition, the bar by the pool is specialized in high cocktails and author mixology designed by Julio Salas, in which you must try his iconic drink: “La Pleito“, an elixir of violet color, featuring lavender extract combined with mezcal. They also have a wide variety of cocktails based on tequila and whiskey, as well as a good choice of gins.
The mixology is thought to be the ideal pairing of the wide menu of sushis and makis that they offer, thought to be a light food for the sunny days of San Miguel. The menu was created by the chef Bernardo Granados.
But thats not all, the pool connects with the hotel’s new gym, where large windows offer a spectacular view of the mountains that guests can enjoy as they work out.
Therefore, if you want to disconnect from the world, and experience luxury in a contemporary country style with an outdoor pool and a bar, you know what your best option is in your next trip to San Miguel de Allende.
