The tribute that will be rendered in San Miguel de Allende, will take place in the “Jardín Central” so that more people will be able to accompany the director of award winning films such as “Elephant” and “Milk”.
Sarah Hoch, director of the Guanajuato International Film Festival (GIFF), explained that the event will be held on Saturday July 20, including the exhibition of one of the American director’s films.
“And then there will be questions and answers, the director is open to collaborate with us in all activities,” says Hoch.
“Van Sant, nominated twice for the Oscar Academy Award, has been sought by the GIFF for four years”, says the executive. “And finally, he confirmed us last week, his dates were set for San Miguel de Allende and here he will be,” she explains.
A day later the director will offer a master conference. And four films (still being defined), from the honoree’s filmography, will be programmed in San Miguel de Allende.
This year the film festival will be held in SMA from July 19 to 23, then move to Guanajuato from the 25 to 28.
The State Auditorium will be the main venue of the festival, leaving the center of the city, where they had been latest editions.
The Philippines will be the guest country in this 22nd edition of the GIFF.
