Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths in Mexico and a leading cause of all deaths. From a broader geographic perspective, projections from researchers estimate the Central and South America region is expected to experience an increase in the incidence of cancer to 1.7 million, while the mortality rate will double (500,000 to 1 million), by 2030.
Amidst this backdrop, lung cancer experts from several Latin American countries will gather in Mexico City from October 17 to 19 to address this growing public health challenge and create plans to decrease the rate of lung cancer growth at the 2019 Latin American Conference on Lung Cancer.
Set to be held at the InterContinental Presidente Hotel Mexico City, located at Campos Eliseos 218 in the Capital city’s Colonia Chapultepec Polanco, the conference will host an abundance of international and national speakers, who will discuss scientific advances in the treatment and prevention of lung cancer and thoracic malignancies worldwide – and in Latin American in particular.
The IASLC conference will also feature several unique workshops designed for young researchers in Latin America. These workshops will cover medical oncology, thoracic surgery, radiation oncology, pulmonary, radiology and pathology.
Researchers, clinicians, trainee physicians, medical oncologists, thoracic surgeons, radiation oncologists, pulmonologists and nurses are all encouraged to attend the conference for the opportunity to learn, share knowledge and network with over 500 delegates from Latin America and world-renowned keynote speakers.
