Just for a weekend or a long vacation, at any time of the year, San Miguel de Allende, in Guanajuato, awaits its visitors to fall in love with one of the best cities in the world.
San Miguel de Allende, nestled in mountainous lands just over three hours from Mexico City, has an excellent weather almost all year round, which offers the opportunity to enjoy its cobbled streets with light clothes and comfortable shoes (probably not today though…).
The ringing of the campaigns of the main parish of San Miguel is the sound that floods its streets and awakens its residents and visitors in the early hours of the day.
Just walk on its sidewalks and admire the colonial architecture of its buildings to understand why this city is considered one of the most beautiful in Mexico.
Among the attractions offered by this colonial destination is the Parish of San Miguel Arcángel, which is a symbol of the city and was erected at the end of the 17th century.
The parish has a neo-Gothic facade, it was designed by the master Ceferino Gutierrez and superimposed around 1880, while the pink tones of the pink quarry with which it is built stand out.
So much to see…
To have a panoramic view of the city, tourists can board the tram that leaves from the Tourist Office, on the north side of the main garden, to visit both a viewpoint and other points of interest.
In the handicraft market and in the Lucas Balderas walker it is possible to acquire the traditional handicrafts in brass and natural, copper or decorated sheet that the place offers.
For visitors to San Miguel, this mercado provides the ambience of a more traditional Mexican tianguis, as a change from the many chic and over-priced stores all over town.
