The municipality of San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, pays tribute to its people.
The municipal president, Luis Alberto Villarreal, accompanied by aldermen and area directors, inaugurated the eighth edition of “Faces of Our People”, a monthly exhibition that recognizes the main figures of San Miguel’s life.
During his message, the mayor said that many of these faces do not have a public square or a plaque with their names on it in the streets of San Miguel, “however they made a very important contribution and they live in the memory of all of us.”
He stressed that “San Miguel de la Gente” is built stone by stone and heart by heart. “This is how we have been building it and we will continue to build it,” he added.
31 San Miguel residents participated in this act, all outstanding professionals in their own field, sports, politics, art and traditional labors, creators of an important cultural heritage for the city.
“The Faces of Our People” in its eighth edition stars: Oscar Bautista Espinoza, Peggy Taylor, Esteban “Ganchito” Guzmán, Octavio Capitán, José Centeno, Manuel Juárez, Francisco Juárez, Dr. Cesar Gil Hoyos, María Auxilio Trujillo, Jaime Fernández Harris, Morgana Love, Salvador Romo, Víctor Sahuatoba, Anthony Adlerbert, María Gómez Rodríguez and Elías Drago.
Similarly, the Faces of Our People who have passed away are: Julián Hoyos, Dr. Arturo Soto, Nicolás Ramón García, Carlos Cortés López, Alejandro Jiménez, María Carmen Arteaga Tovar, Ma. Carmen Sierra Delgadillo, Simón Ybarra, Jesús Guerrero Terrazas, Gracia Zavala, Lucia García Flores, José Antonio Zavala Rocha, Rayas Family, Bruno Galicia Barrera and Antonio Ruiz Valenzuela.
The exhibition can be seen on San Francisco Street, between Corregidora and Relox. 31 large-scale photographs, with the faces of the people who dedicated and / or still dedicate their lives to keep the traditions of San Miguel de Allende alive.
