SALAMANCA, GTO. (APRIL 5, 2020) .- “At least one person has died in Salamanca, Guanajuato as a result of the COVID-19 Coronavirus”, state health secretary Daniel Alberto Díaz Martínez reported last night.
The state official explained that they are currently awaiting medical studies to rule out or confirm that the death of a second person was also a consequence of COVID-19.
“Today we were notified by the Pemex Regional Hospital in Salamanca of two deaths for respiratory problems. One of the deceased tested positive for the COVID-19 screening, and the other one is awaiting results”, the Guanajuato health secretary declared through a video that was published on the state government’s social networks.

The deceased were both male, and residents of Salamanca, one was 64 years old and the second was 68 years old. Both entered the Pemex Regional Hospital in that city after presenting “symptoms of respiratory disease.”
Díaz Martínez explained that the two deceased persons had traveled to the state of Chiapas, where they could have been infected.
