Twelve Guanajuato residents arrested for not wearing a face mask

12 citizens were arrested in Guanajuato capital for not respecting the use of face masks.

The seven men and three women were taken before the Ministerio Público, who admonished them to use a mouth cover. Two of the detained were minors.

Guanajuato.- 12 people were detained by preventive police at different points in the historic center because they were not wearing a mouth cover, they were warned and then released.

After the arrest, the citizens, who were handcuffed by the uniformed police officers, were transferred aboard patrols to the station, where it was said that they would be admonished for not complying with the measure of wearing a mask, which was made compulsory in the 46 municipalities of the state of Guanajuato until further notice.

On the Facebook page of the Secretary of Citizen Security, it is explained that anyone who walks in the street without wearing a face mask will be reported and arrested.

The person would only be taken to the Directorate of Citizen Security to receive a warning.

Remember that by the disposition of the health authorities the use of a face mask is mandatory. For this reason, in Guanajuato, those who do not abide by these indications are liable to be detained, and get a warning, ”read the SSC publication on social networks.

It should be noted that many experts have declared that the arrests of people for not using a face mask have no legal basis since, up to now, the capital’s Police and Good Governance Side has not been modified so that this can happen.

In addition, a couple of weeks ago, the PAN councilor Cecilia Phöls Covarrubias proposed to reform this code in order to guarantee a fine of up to 4 thousand pesos to anyone who does not wear a mouth cover.
