Bars working hours to be extended… but they will remain closed on “Día del Grito”

San Miguel de Allende.- On September 15, the first square of the city will be closed completely, except for residents and tourists who check reservations, but in the week of September 10 to 17, the hours of bars that have the Health First certification.

This was agreed by the municipal government, in conjunction with representatives of hotels, restaurants, and wedding planners.

Similarly, it was agreed to relocate and expand the lanes of the highway filters to privilege the passage of the residents of San Miguel de Allende and tourists with a QR code.

Since yesterday, the filter located at the exit to Querétaro was installed before the Zirándaro subdivision – coming from Querétaro – so that the residents of this place and the area will no longer have to go through this checkpoint.


In the week of September 10 to 17, the capacity in outdoor spaces will be of a maximum of 200 people; in closed spaces it will be 120 people. Subsequently, it will return to maximums of 150 and 90 people, respectively.

The Cry of Independence ceremony will be held behind closed doors at 10:00 pm at the Casa de Allende museum; there will be a special program that will be broadcast on radio, television, and digital platforms. There will also be 10 minutes of fireworks that San Miguel residents can enjoy from their homes.

The agreement was signed by the municipal president, Luis Alberto Villarreal García ; Laura Torres Septién, president of the Tourist Council of San Miguel de Allende and José Jorge Olalde Chávez, president of the Mexican Association of Hotels and Lodging Establishments of San Miguel de Allende.
