Rethink Tourism
In 1979, the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) proclaimed September 27 as World Tourism Day, to commemorate the anniversary of the approval of its Statutes.
Tourism has become one of the main players in international trade and at the same time represents one of the main sources of income for many developing countries.
This growth goes hand in hand with increased diversification and competition between destinations.
The declaration of this day took place in Torremolinos (Spain).
The date is also considered appropriate because it coincides with the end of the peak holiday season in the Northern Hemisphere and the beginning in the southern half.
This 2022 World Tourism Day is celebrated with the slogan “Rethinking Tourism”.
