San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato.- Within the framework of the bicentennial of the ‘ Traída del Señor de la Columna ‘, the Municipal Administration delivered a commemorative sculpture, a new jubilee bell, replaced the representative tiles, and improved the public square in front of the temple of the neighborhood of San Juan de Dios.
El Señor de la Columna is one of the most deeply rooted popular traditions among the people of San Miguel and is promoted and cared for.
This quarry sculpture was inaugurated by: the municipal president Mauricio Trejo, father Dante Aguilar, members of the Brotherhood of the Lord of the Column, and residents of the San Juan de Dios neighborhood.
Mauricio Trejo highlighted the complementary works to beautify public spaces, as he did on this occasion with the flower boxes and the public square in front of the temple.
“I know that at first, the neighbors said: what are they going to do? Well, we wanted to surprise all the neighbors. We are rescuing all the areas and today this becomes a reflection space for all those who want to visit us, a space full of peace and reflection. This is a new beginning for the entire San Miguel municipality, for all the residents of this area,” the municipal president concluded.
