The Mexican president was questioned by journalist Jorge Ramos about the 166 thousand intentional murders recorded by prosecutors in the country.

President Andrés Manuel López Obrador denied  that in his government more than 166 thousand Mexicans have died due to the violence in Mexico and assured that “he has other data.”

During his morning session, the president was questioned by journalist Jorge Ramos about the 166,000 intentional murders recorded by prosecutors in the country, the 4,892 femicides, and 43 massacred journalists.

Given the figures revealed, the president indicated that he did not share the journalist’s point of view and that he had other data.

“I greatly respect your point of view, but I do not share it, I have a different vision and I have other data ,” he said.

Next, he presented a graph of the painful homicides recorded in the last six-year terms, which shows that with his predecessor Felipe Calderón there were 121,683 murders and with Enrique Peña Nieto it grew to 124,478. However, this graph shows that with his government They total 166,193 intentional murders.

López Obrador stressed that he has managed to reduce intentional homicides by 20% and stressed that he is not going to change his security strategy, because he continues to address the causes of violence.

Likewise, he denied that the high number of murders is a tragedy and maintained that 100,000 young people die a year from fentanyl consumption in the United States and that is indeed a tragedy.

He even maintained that Mexico is a peaceful country and that violence is located in very specific places, such as Guanajuato, “where conservatism has ruled for 30 years, defended by many who are against us.”

Finally, AMLO denied that Mexico is the most dangerous country to practice journalism in the world, since it has recorded 43 murdered communicators.

“No, I would say that the United States is more dangerous. We, if we continue with the same policy we are going to solve it, I get tired of it, if we continue with the same policy of caring for young people, fair wages, it will be solved “I am worried about the United States, that has to do with social decomposition, Mexico is a cultural power,” López Obrador concluded.
