Four people were murdered in Irapuato one hour after the end of a rally by Xóchitl Gálvez, the opposition candidate for the presidency, which was held in the city.
The first incident occurred minutes before 8:00 p.m. on Caribe Street in the Las Américas neighborhood. Armed subjects shot from a moving vehicle and killed a 28-year-old man.
Within minutes of each other, two men approximately 30 years old were murdered on Emiliano Zapata Street, in the community of Carrizalito, also by armed individuals who shot at them from a car. After the crime, the perpetrators escaped.
The National Guard and police officers arrived to carry out a search operation that ended without the capture of the aggressors.
Finally, in the central area of Irapuato, on Comonfort Street, another man was shot when he was sitting on the sidewalk.
At the time of the attacks, thousands of visitors were leaving Irapuato in buses and cars after participating in a campaign event for candidate Xóchitl Gálvez and Libya’s Dennise García Muñoz Ledo, who is seeking the governorship of Guanajuato.
The state prosecutor’s office is investigating whether the four murders in Irapuato are related or if they were carried out by the same people, with no arrests reported concerning these cases of homicide.
