Dozens of students from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) demanded that their university and President Andrés Manuel López Obrador break relations with Israel for actions against Palestine, which they classified as ‘genocidal’.
In an interuniversity assembly, the students blamed the Israeli State for promoting student repression in that country, expressions that have also been made in recent days by similar institutions of higher education in the United States.
In the so-called ‘Interuniversity and popular Assembly in solidarity with the United States student camps’, held at the facilities of the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters, in Ciudad Universitaria, it was also agreed to replicate the protests.
In addition, they voted to install tents in front of the Rectory Tower starting at 12:00 on May 2.
