The film industry in Mexico is growing with women whose work is still in the struggle for visibility and recognition, far from patterns of violence and with the construction of environments of sisterhood ahead.
In line with this mission, the Guanajuato International Film Festival and the Association of Women in Film and Television are proud to praise year after year the work of women on and off the screen.
In this edition, GIFF honored the excellence of the actress Adriana Paz, known for her talent shown in Las horas Muertas and Vis a vis, and was recently awarded at the Cannes Film Festival for her performance in Emilia Pérez. Likewise, the talented Claudia Ramírez, who has participated in highly successful soap operas, series, and films such as ¿Quién mató a Sara? and Mirreyes contra Godínez; as well as the screenwriter and director with a social voice Marina Stavenhagen, who has been behind stories such as De la Calle.
Outside of competition, GIFF embraces cinema with extraordinary proposals that reach audiences and places that no longer go unnoticed in front of a screen full of possibilities.
The winner of the Grand Jury Prize at the Venice Film Festival and the Best Film award at the London Film Festival, Evil Does Not Exist, by Oscar nominee Ryûsuke Hamaguchi, was the opening film in San Miguel de Allende.
