One week after Omar García Harfuch, Rosa Icela Rodríguez, Ariadna Montiel, and Mario Delgado joined Claudia Sheinbaum’s presidential cabinet, the virtual president-elect will announce new members of her work team for the 2024-2030 six-year term.

Sheinbaum Pardo revealed the appointment of a new member on Thursday, July 11.

In previous days, Claudia Sheinbaum detailed that she will ‘revive’ the Head of the Office of the Presidency in her cabinet, so the presentation of the person who will be in charge of that position, as well as the heads of the Secretariats of Labor, was expected. and Social Welfare, Tourism, and Culture; However, she only presented one member of her presidential cabinet today.

The Head of the Office of the Presidency in the López Obrador government was occupied by the Monterrey businessman Alfonso Romo; However, the position disappeared after the businessman resigned in December 2020.

Lázaro Cárdenas Batel, who will be the head of the Presidency’s office in Claudia Sheinbaum’s cabinet, is the son of the pioneer of the left in Mexico, Cuauhtémoc Cárdenas; and grandson of the historical Lázaro “Tata” Cárdenas (widely known as the Mexican President that expropriated oil back in 1938).

He was previously coordinator of advisors to President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, until a year ago, when he presented his resignation.

Cárdenas Batel was governor of Michoacán for the PRD between 2002 and 2008; He has also been a senator of the Republic and a federal representative in Congress.
