With a parade through several streets on a donkey and a cow, as well as with the Review of Señor San Miguel, the celebrations began.

With the traditional Review of Señor San Miguel, the patron saint festivities began in San Miguel de Allende.

This parade, led by a cow adorned with flowers and a donkey collecting the sponsorships granted by merchants for the festival, is the invitation to the festivity that will take place at the end of September in honor of San Miguel Arcángel.

This custom dates back to the 17th century. On Saturday night, communities gather to celebrate the vigil, and on Sunday morning, the bull is prepared, which leads the tradition and which, at other times, was sacrificed to feed those who participated in the festival.

The ox is bathed and adorned with flower necklaces and, together with the dancers, arrives at the parish church to be presented to Señor San Miguel.

The parade marches through the streets, passing by the markets where a donkey, also adorned with flowers and carrying baskets, receives the fruits and sweets that are given to them for the festival.

They also pass by the Ancient Pantheon, where the dancers ask permission from the Souls to hold the festival at the end of September.
