UNAM was ranked 54th in the Interdisciplinary Science Rankings 2025 by Times Higher Education, highlighting its commitment to interdisciplinary science.

The National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) has managed to position itself in 54th place worldwide in the first edition of the Interdisciplinary Science Rankings (ISR) 2025, prepared by Times Higher Education in collaboration with Schmidt Science Fellows.

This ranking evaluates the commitment and contributions of universities to interdisciplinary science, analyzing 749 higher education institutions from 92 countries.

With this achievement, UNAM is not only ranked as the best university in Mexico but also as the leader in Latin America, standing out in a global list that recognizes the most influential institutions in solving global challenges from an interdisciplinary perspective.

What are the Interdisciplinary Science Rankings?

The ISR measures how universities integrate diverse scientific disciplines to address complex problems, such as climate change, artificial intelligence, and global health. Interdisciplinary science is key to innovating and finding sustainable solutions to today’s world problems.

The ranking is headed by prestigious universities such as:

Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), United States.
Stanford University, United States.
National University of Singapore, Singapore.
California Institute of Technology (Caltech), United States.
Duke University, United States.

UNAM’s leadership in Latin America

Among Latin American universities, UNAM ranks first, followed by:

Pontifical Catholic University of Chile (63).
