Female officer is appointed as deputy director of the Military School of Medicine

Verónica Fabiola Martínez Espinosa, who is a colonel and surgeon, took the oath of office as deputy director of the Military School of Medicine, before Brigadier General Humberto Carrasco Vargas, director of the Military School of Medicine.

During the event, an extraordinary order was read to announce that, by order of the President of Mexico and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and by agreement of the General Secretary of National Defense, Colonel Martínez Espinosa was appointed deputy director of the Military School of Medicine in Mexico City.

As part of the protocol, the colonel’s curriculum vitae was released, highlighting her professional career with a doctorate and master’s degree in Senior Management; specialties in Comprehensive and Emergency Medicine, Orthopedics and Traumatology and Health Law, in addition to a primary course in Aviation Medicine and a postgraduate degree in Joint Surgery and Arthroscopy.

For more than 33 years of uninterrupted service to the country, she has held various positions, including the following: Member of the Medical Corps of the High Command, Head of the Hyperbaric Chamber Department of the Central Military Hospital, Head of the Emergency Department of the Central Military Hospital and Head of the Technical Normative Area, dependent on the Technical Subdirectorate of the Central Military Hospital.

In the current administration, there are three women who hold a high command in the Army.

This week, Brigadier General of Military Justice Mariana de la Cruz Sánchez was sworn in as General Defender and Head of the Military Public Defender’s Office, in addition to Brigadier General surgeon Blanca Elsi Cruz Toledo, who was sworn in and took possession of the position of Director of the Military Gerontological Center.
