The mayor of San Miguel de Allende, Mauricio Trejo Pureco, awarded scholarships to the municipality’s 330 most outstanding students.

As a reward for their effort and performance in continuing to study and achieving outstanding grades with an average of 9.5 and 10 during the school year, 330 adolescents and young students of secondary school, high school, and university from the public and private sector received the educational scholarship “Incentives for Excellence”.

“I invite all the young people of San Miguel Allende to follow their example, stay on the right path, stay away from vices,” said the mayor.

In front of the community of beneficiaries, Mauricio Trejo advised them to be generous and support their parents with household expenses, so that they feel the satisfaction of using these resources for something positive; in addition, he warned them to be “part of the solution and not the problem”.

Julio Araiza Ruiz felt proud to receive this educational support on behalf of the excellent students, which motivates him to achieve his goals and purposes.

“I want to thank the Government Administration (Municipal) and the responsible institutions for their effort and commitment to supporting students. This program gives us, more than financial support, hope, confidence, and the opportunity to continue building our future; we reflect the dedication, effort, and dream of improving ourselves to achieve our goals and purposes. Today we share this achievement, but also the commitment to show that this opportunity is worthwhile,” Araiza Ruiz said.

With the first delivery of three economic scholarships, the San Miguel government assures that it reaffirms the mayor’s commitment to youth, by delivering student scholarships for 8,200 pesos. This support would add to the educational drive, improve the family economy, and reinforce the fight against school dropouts.

The Municipality, through the Municipal Institute for Youth Care of San Miguel de Allende (Imajsma), allocated more than 2.7 million pesos for San Miguel students, who freely decide how to invest it, mainly in the purchase of materials for their education (books, uniforms, etc.) or technological accessories.
