Mexico, Jun. 2 (Notimex).- The Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, Angela Merkel, will make an official visit to Mexico on June 9 and 10.
She will be received by President Enrique Peña Nieto and together they will review the progress made by the commitments that both countries have established during the last years.
During the meeting, the leaders will exchange views on the main issues on the international agenda, and explore new spaces in which Mexico and Germany can strengthen their collaboration to meet global challenges, particularly within the framework of the G20.
“Germany presides over the work of the G20, whose Leaders Summit will be held in Hamburg on July 7 and 8”, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
“The relationship between Mexico and Germany is characterized by intense and fruitful dialogue, frequent high-level political contacts and growing trade and investment exchanges”, continued the Foreign Ministry.
“In addition, the cooperation agenda has important initiatives in renewable energy, education, innovation and entrepreneurship”.
Merkel will travel accompanied by a business delegation, with the purpose of expanding and strengthening trade and investment ties between the two countries.
As part of Merkel’s visit to Mexico, the activities of the Dual Year 2016-2017, a public diplomacy initiative that has led to better knowledge and understanding between the two societies, will be closed by promoting dialogue and collaboration among various actors.
