The delegate of San José de Agua Azul, one of the most violent communities in the municipality of Apaseo el Grande, Guanajuato, was kidnapped on Feb, 19, and later found murdered on the side of the road.
The woman, identified as Jovita Michel, was shot twice in the head.
According to residents of the community, the delegate was stopped by a group of unknown individuals and forced to get into a vehicle around noon on Monday Feb. 19.
A little later, the Municipal Police was informed that, under the bridge that connects Apaseo el Alto and Apaseo el Grande, there was a body laying on the side road.
Police agents arrived at the site and confirmed it was the delegate. The Attorney General’s Office reported that the woman had two shots to the head. In the place were found two 38 caliber used cartridges.
In this community there have been numerous violent murders in recent years.
According to PROCESO, on 2007, the settlement of organized crime cells, specifically Los Zetas, was reported in that locality.
