275 homicides in January, record figure for the state of Guanajuato

The first month of this 2019 ends with 275 homicides in the state of Guanajuato, of which more than 50% were committed in municipalities of the western region of the state. The most critical days were January 3rd and 25th , when 25 and 24 murders were committed respectively. Out of the 275, 21 of the victims were women.

Among the victims were two policemen and some businessmen who ere murdered. In the case of region C, based in Celaya, 62 crimes were recorded; while the general list of homicides is headed by Irapuato with 44 murders, followed by Salamanca with 35, Valle de Santiago with 30, Pénjamo with 26 and León with 22.

Among the cases that stood out this month is the assignment on January 3 in Celaya, when two brothers were killed in the Santa Rita neighborhood. That same day, Tarimoro, Silao, Pénjamo and Salamanca had multiple homicides.

On January 7, the dead body an agent of the Municipal Police of Celaya was located in the Emiliano Zapata neighborhood, the body was found inside a trash can and wrapped in blankets; He was identified as José Luis Rico Aboytes, 25 years old.

On January 13, a civilian was killed outside a convenience store in the first section of the Arboledas neighborhood, after he tried to resist a robbery and the criminals opened fire on him, two Policemen who passed by the place and noticed the robbery, were wounded.

Another police officer was killed on January 15 in the town of Yuriria (near the stateline with Michoacan), on a drive by shooting.

In San Miguel de Allende, a man was gunned down on January 23 in the parking lot of a kindergarten, where he tried to protect himself when he was pursued by his assailants.

Just to name a few of the hundreds of fatal incidents that took place this month in Guanajuato.
