San Miguel de Allende, Cultural Patrimony of Humanity does not have enough police officers to guarantee the security of the citizens; there are currently 27 agents per shift, which means that each one of them has to take care of 6 thousand people, when ideally, there should be 1.8 agents per one thousand inhabitants.
There are only 27 policemen or shift, to take care of the entire urban area of San Miguel and the more than 500 communities, a figure which is absolutely insufficient.
At least 10 people have been shot to death so far this year for alleged fights between cartels. Four attacks have occurred in the San Rafael neighborhood of SMA.
In this regard, the councilor of Morena, Laura González said “(…) I urge our colleagues and municipal authorities (…) to take appropriate measures to speed up the recruitment of more police officers.”
