To care for the urban image of the municipality and continue to be a benchmark for tourism and culture at a national and international level, the City Council made a strong appeal to telecommunications companies to stop affecting the urban landscape, historical and cultural heritage with the installation of aerial wiring.

During the 45th Ordinary Session of the City Council, a demand was made to these private companies to stop damaging the urban image of one of the most important tourist and cultural destinations in Mexico and the world. This demand was also applied to the directors of the Municipal Administration, so that without any distinction they apply the regulations to protect heritage and the urban image with a strong and firm hand.

This call to respect and comply with legal obligations was made by councilor Mariana Arzola, who argued the importance of caring for San Miguel’s heritage that is represented in the “Historical Monuments Zone” and said call was voted unanimously by all the councilors present.

“At this moment, I demand that all telecommunication service providers in this city refrain from continuing to install poles, cables, and/or any material in the historic center of our city, to provide their telecommunication service and I urge the same to carry out the provision of their services, according to the underground wiring modality, which is applicable in our historic center, “said the councilor.
