San Miguel is home to more than 350 restaurants and more eateries and gourmet joints are constantly popping up throughout the city. Some appear and disappear as quickly as they emerged, while others prevail for many years in the same place.

If you take a walk through the San Miguel Market, you will learn about the produce of the region, and then you can dig in at some of the city’s best restaurants.

There’s cuisine both high and low, and everything in between: South American, Asian, American, European, fusion… But mostly, of course, there’s Mexican: enchiladas, gorditas, sopes, tacos, and salsas.

Now, if you really want to have a taste of real Mexican food, the stuff that locals eat, just go around the corner from the Jardín, and you will find one of the most popular lunch and late night eateries in town, “Cenaduría La Alborada”, famous for their pozole made with chicken or pork.

There you will also be able to find many other standard Mexican dishes, cooked at the moment, with delicious homey seasoning.
