In March, charges for electricity applied by the CFE to industrial users will rise between 13.3 and 17.2 percent, while the commercial sector will increase between 8 and 12 percent, and high consumption domestic use (category in which most of us residents of the Yucatan fall), will see an 8 percent tariff increase.

High consumption domestic use = If your energy consumption is higher than 250 kWh/per month.

In a statement, the CFE announced that low domestic consumption rates (below 250 kWh/per month) will remain unchanged during March.

According to the CFE, “the adjustment of this tariff in March 2017 is proportionally related to the increase in the prices of fuels used to generate electricity, and registered in February 2017 compared to February 2016.”

Gasoline prices are fluctuating every day, and on Wednesday March 1st, Premium and Diesel went up 3 cents, while the price of Magna had no changes.

In addition to electricity and gasoline, natural gas prices increased by 92 percent, while the price of imported coal increased by 119.1 percent, which contrasts with the 9.8 percent increase in domestic coal.
