Miguel Marquez Marquez, Guanajuato state governor, confirmed his administration’s full support for the comprehensive development of San Miguel de Allende, a city that he refered to as “Guanajuato’s window to the world“.
Presiding over the inauguration of the CANACO-SERVyTUR Board meeting for San Miguel de Allende, headed by Antonio Llamas Hernandez, the state governor declared that to strengthen the growth of this region of Guanajuato, projects in tourism, public works, economic competitiveness and quality of life are being contemplated.
He noted that part of this commitment to the development of San Miguel de Allende is the consolidation of the Industrial Park, that would contribute to diversify the city’s economy.
“These are huge investments that will create jobs, but the axis of San Miguel de Allende’s economic growth is tourism and commerce, so we need to keep supporting these sectors,” Governor Marquez said.
Regarding public works for San Miguel de Allende, the State Executive highlighted the modernization of the main points of access to the World”s Cultural Heritage City.
More than 50 million pesos will be invested in the San Felipe-Ocampo road, the rehabilitation of the San Miguel de Allende bypass road, the relocation of the Municipal slaughter house, and the construction of a Cultural Development Center with an investment of 18.5 million pesos.
Marquez Marquez also underlined the importance of working on the modernization of the airport in San Miguel de Allende.
“We have to take this great opportunity to showcase San Miguel de Allende as Guanajuato’s window to the world,” concluded the Governor.
The event was attended by Tourism Minister Fernando Olivera Rocha; the Mayor of San Miguel de Allende, Ricardo Villarreal Garcia; and the President of the Commission for Economic and Social Development of the State Congress, Congressman Juan Jose Alvarez Brunel.
