On Friday, July 15, Governor of Guanajuato Miguel Marquez Marquez attended the foundation laying ceremony of the new NSK-Warner Mexico Plant, where he said that during the present administration, an investment of $ 9 billion pesos (473.6 million USD) has been generated.
“Today is a great day for Guanajuato, United States and Japan, with the foundation laying of NSK-Warner Mexico Plant in Guanajuato´s Inner Harbor (Puerto Interior). This company will invest 34 million dollars and will be generating 118 jobs, which is very important for the young people of Guanajuato.”
Marquez Marquez mentioned that “Guanajuato is proud to receive this worldwide leader in developing and manufacturing components for clutch and automatic transmission.”
“I’m sure that your presence in our state will strength our automotive cluster, which is the most dynamic in Latin America, and the arrival of this new company means that we must continue on the way of competitiveness,” said the Governor.
Guanajuato will expand its infrastructure, improving services to keep up with international competition and attracting more foreign investments.
Marquez Marquez indicated that “Guanajuato is honored to have the confidence and support of companies such as NSK-Warner Mexico.”
The Consul General of Japan in Leon, Yasuhisa Suzuky said “it is a pleasure to be here at the NSK-Warner plant construction opening ceremony in Guanajuato Puerto Interior, this company is recognized worldwide and its products grant confidence to the automotive industry.”
He added that “many Japanese have integrated to Mexico´s lifestyle, thanks to the warm attention from the Mexican community and they have learned how to give a pleasant greeting.”
The President of NSK-Warner KK, Sakae Kuwashiro said this will be a first level production plant in North America and “it is a pleasure to preside this important investment project. That will contribute to the economic development of Silao and Guanajuato.”
“We are thankful with the Governor and state officials who support our enterprise. We are producing auto clutch and accessories for automatic transmissions. We have a great influence among our customers because we have the best technology.”
The plant will start operations in July 2017 and expects annual sales for 120 million dollars.
This company was born from the merge of NSK Ltd. and Borg Warner in 1964, in order to manufacture components for automatic transmissions. Currently, the Japanese company has plants in Japan, China, Indonesia, the United States and now in Mexico.
NSK-Warner employs 1, 100 people worldwide and during 2015 reported annual sales of over 358 million USD.
The event was attended by the state Secretary of Sustainable Economic Development, Guillermo Romero Pacheco; NSK Limited Vice-president, Shigeyuki Suzuki and Bradly LaFey, Sales Vice- President for Borg Warner.
