865 “Catrinas” and “Catrines” came together in Celaya, Guanajuato, and this figure was recorded in the Guinness Book or World Records.

The event began at 10:00 am on Sunday October 30, where Catrinas and Catrines began to focus on the former premises of the Celaya Fair.

A team of 80 professional makeup artists led by Frank Nateras, make-up expert for the hit series “The Walking Dead”, worked on hundreds of skeleton face-paintings, while another group of around 20 Mexican makeup specialists painted dozens more at the “Casa del Diezmo” in Celaya.

At 16:00, the “Guinness Book of World Records” team started counting the “Catrinas” and “Catrines”.

Celaya broke the world record once hold by the city of Mexicali, Baja California, with 587 people disguised as “Catrinas”. And when the counting ceremony ended, the Sixth Annual Traditional Catrinas’s Parade began at the city of Celaya, Guanajuato.

The event was organized by the Guanajuato’s Youth Institute (Instituto de la Juventud Guanajuatense – GUANAJOVEN), in coordination with CEMEDANZA.
