SAN MIGUEL DE ALLENDE, Gto.- The inner courtyard of the Tourist Council Office (Oficina del Consejo de Turismo) serves as venue for the ‘Abstracciones Taurinas‘ painting exhibition, by artist Marisol Barroso.
The exhibit is a tribute to the “fiesta brava” and pay homage to famous fighting bull breeder ‘Pepe‘ Garfias de los Santos, with 50 years of experience as a “Ganadero de Toros de Lidia“.
Garfias said that his father decided that him and his brother Javier became cattle ranchers, and when he was a little bit older, in the year 1966, his father gave Garfias 50 cows and a bull. Since then, “Pepe” officially became a “Toro de Lidia” cattleman, and many triumphs came later, as he became one of the most renown breeders in Mexico”.
The cattleman remembered the moments, when he toured the Plaza Mexico, where at some point he stood alone in the middle of the arena, alongside Joselito, the famous Spanish bullfighter.
Gonzalo González, Secretary of the City Council, welcomed the cortege that gathered there to pay homage to the 75-year-old cattleman.
Painter Marisol Barroso declared: “We are very pleased with their presence in this city that is an UNESCO’s World Heritage,” and then authorities and guests cu the ribbon for the official inauguration of the “Abstracciones Taurinas” exhibition .
Barroso continued: “This exhibition seeks to provoke and evoke feelings, experiences and memories lived by characters of the world of bullfighting”.
A percentage of the sales will benefit the “Let’s light it blue for autism” (Iluminemos de azul por el autismo) civil organization and the “Jorge González Camarena” Cultural Foundation.
