San Miguel de Allende, Gto.- On Sunday, December 4, the first Christmas Race was held on the “Paseo de los Conspiradores” with around 500 participants, as part of the new “Via Activa” initiative, which seeks that families from San Miguel de Allende, live a healthier life with access to sport activities every Sunday.
From early on, families and groups of friends gathered to participate in the different activities, such as jogging, inflatables, bike ride and zumba among others.
Mayor Ricardo Villarreal attended the ceremony, and reminded all participants that since November 27, an activation program at the “Paseo de los Conspiradores” takes place from 7 am to 1 pm, every Sunday.
As part of the activities last Sunday, the Municipal Administration, through the Municipal Sports Commission (COMUDE), held the first Christmas 5-kilometers Race, to commemorate the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
The race started at the “Glorieta Allende”, and finished at the “Glorieta Patrimonio”, with the following participating categories:
- Under 6 years-old
- 7 to 9
- 10 to 12
- 13 to 15
- 16 to 18 (juvenile) 3km.
- Free (up to 39 year-old) 5km.
- Disability (female, male and veterans) 5 km
Participants obtained a commemorative medal, and the first places won a trophy delivered personally by municipal authorities, headed by Emilia Vega, president of the municipal DIF; and Town Hall councilors Luz Maria Gutierrez, Agustina Morales and Patricia Villa.
