SAN MIGUEL DE ALLENDE, Gto.- A 7-year-old girl tried to escape to Celaya, Guanajuato, because recently she was being bullied at school. The minor is a neighbor of the community of “Santuario de Atotonilco”, municipality of San Miguel de Allende.
The Facts
Around 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday February 7th, several passengers reported to emergency number 911 that a little girl was crying in the waiting room at SMA bus terminal, and she was apparently not in the company of an adult.
Once Municipal Police officers and Crime Prevention personnel arrived onsite, they asked her why was she crying, where she came from, where was she going and why was she traveling alone; the girl confessed that in her school she was being mocked by her classmates.
At first, the child refused to make any comment, she just kept saying that she had to go to Celaya. Afterwards, specialists from Crime Prevention were able to make the little girl talk, and she accepted to be suffering from serious bullying by her fellow classmates.
Authorities informed that, the 7-year-old girl goes to the “Santuario de Atotonilco” elementary school, and she took an urban bus leading to the Central Bus Station, where she pretended to take another bus to the municipality of Celaya, where apparently she has relatives.
Crime Prevention specialists in psychological attention, decided to take her with her parents, and follow up on the issue.
Human Rights Attorney takes the case
The Human Rights Attorney of the State of Guanajuato (Procuraduría de Derechos Humanos del Estado de Guanajuato, PDHEG) initiated the complaint file 20/17-D, on the case of a girl who is suffering from bullying at “Santuario de Atotonilco”, elementary school in San Miguel de Allende; and issued a precautionary measure in favor of the child in order to safeguard her personal integrity.
The agency also indicated that it seeks to contact her parents and as part of the research, they will request a full report from the authorities of the Ministry of Education of Guanajuato (Secretaría de Educación de Guanajuato, SEG).
