SAN MIGUEL DE ALLENDE – On Thursday March 23rd, San Miguel de Allende authorities delivered water management and distribution infrastructure works in the downtown area, which are part of the “physical efficiency in water systems program”.
Such works aim to improve water service and prevent some leakage in the city. Three water projects were carried out in the municipality with an investment of $8 million pesos ($400 thousand USD).
Mayor of San Miguel, Ricardo Villarreal, and the director of the National Water Commission (Comisión Nacional del Agua, Conagua) in Guanajuato, Humberto Navarro and Concepción Gutiérrez, head of the State Water Commission (Comisión Estatal del Agua, CEA) attended the event and handed over these urban works.
“We have the commitment to improve these specific infrastructure works that are not necessarily seen by the citizens, but they are so needed to guarantee the water distribution. Without water nothing works,” said the official.
Humberto Navarro, Conagua Director, stressed that the great benefit is for 28 thousand San Miguel de Allende residents. 8 million pesos were invested in these works, 50% of them were provided by Conagua, and 25% from the state and the rest from the Municipality.
“We worked on improving distribution water systems known as “Subsector 1” and “Insurgentes”, as well as the Insurgentes tank’s driving line”, explained Villareal.
In addition to the inaugurated waterworks, it is scheduled for this year an investment of 9.3 million pesos in San Miguel de Allende to execute six hydraulic works in the center of San Miguel and the communities of “Guanajuatito”, “Puente del Carmen” and “San Juan Juvenal”.
