SAN MIGUEL DE ALLENDE, Gto. — The Austrian company “Hirschmann Automotive” has started operating in San Miguel de Allende with an investment of 62 million euros and is generating more than 550 direct and indirect jobs.
With this firm, there are nine supplier companies in Guanajuato’s automotive cluster.
The Coordinator of Industry Services of the Directorate of Economic Development and Municipal Tourism, Luis Gerardo Leura Matamoros, explained that the plant has a capacity of 14,600 square meters.
It should be noted that 60% of the jobs offered will be occupied by women.

Municipal Councilor Gerardo Javier Arteaga, on behalf of Mayor Ricardo Villarreal García; Lydia Ladurner, Austrian Ambassador in México and Jesus Porras Orozco, Director of Investment Attraction of the Secretariat of Economic Development of the State of Guanajuato, attended this event that took place on Monday April 3rd.
Hirschmann Automotive expects to hire more than 1,200 workers by the end of 2017. Meanwhile, the company would reach more than 2,000 employees by 2018.
This firm is committed to use renewable energy for its worldwide production. The automotive factory develops state-of-the-art connector systems, technology of over molding, special cables, high voltage applications and sensor system.
Among its main clients are international companies such as BMW, DAIMLER, FCA, TESLA, DRX, LEONI, LEAR, DELPHI and ZF.
Matamoros said that in Guanajuato at least eight supplier plants already operate and another five are under construction, three of them to be inaugurated soon (RIEKE, UTZ AND POLLMANN).
Finally, Lydia Ladurner, Minister Counselor of Austria in Mexico emphasized that in the last years the Bajío region surpassed the northern as the most dynamic zone for the creation of industrial parks.
