“Mexico must take advantage of the current global interest in electric power generation through photovoltaic systems, with the potential it has today and the great expectations of reaching the seventh place worldwide in solar energy generation by the year 2021”, announced the Mexican company Enlight.
Only in the last decade, the growth of electric energy of solar sources in the world went from 6.6 to 306.5 gigawatts, from 2006 to 2016.
Enlight spokesperson said that within this global dynamic, one must take advantage of the great potential of generation that Mexico has and continue investing in photovoltaic projects.
“In about five years Mexico could climb the world rankings of countries that generate electric power using solar sources, reaching a seventh place,” the company representative continued.
He said that according to Solar Power Europe, in 2016 Mexico had a capacity of 505 megawatts, but it is estimated that it could reach 10,505 megawatts by 2021. “Photovoltaic energy is no longer a luxury but a necessity, that will allow companies and individuals to save millions of dollars a year by adopting these clean energy systems, ” concluded Carlos Robert, spokesman for Enlight.
