CANCÚN — During the 30th edition of Cancún Travel Mart 2017 “Mexico Summit”, Enrique de la Madrid Cordero, secretary
of federal tourism, emphasized that so far this year, Mexico has received 26 million foreign visitors, 12% more than in 2016, highlighting a growth of visitors from the United States and Canada, as well as those from Argentina, Brazil and Colombia.

De la Madrid Cordero said that until August this year, the economic output of tourism was 14.7 billion pesos, a figure 9.75% higher than that of 2016; he also said that the tourism industry represents 8.7% of Gross Domestic Product (GDP), making it an effective way to improve the living conditions of Mexicans.

Regarding travel alerts, he said that we have to work in two ways: in reality to make the country a safer place and in the perception, to publicize that progress.

The 30th edition of Cancun Travel Mart has convened important representatives of the tourism industry of Cancún as a world-class destination and the positioning of Quintana Roo, which has nearly 100,000 hotel rooms and infrastructure that allows it to capture 40% of tourism revenues.
