This figure was revealed by the Secretariat of Public Security of León (SSPL) website.

According to SSPL records, intentional homicides had an average of 26 to 35 per month, except for the month of September in which only 17 of these crimes were registered in the municipality. And unfortunately, December proved to be the bloodiest month of the year with 38 homicides.

The rise in the number of intentional homicides since the beginning of 2017 has brought severe criticism from the people towards the state and municipal governments, led by Miguel Márquez Márquez and Hector López Santillana respectively.

León residents claim that there is absolutely no strategy to reduce the crime incidence and the number of murders in the city.
