Irapuato, Gto.-More than 15,000 inhabitants of the San Roque and Urbi Villas del Rey neighborhoods in Irapuato, live in constant fear that their homes or cars will be damaged by disputes between two local gangs, which are also vandalizing urban areas, assaulting pedestrians and breaking into houses.

The residents call it “the zone without law” as the gang members and thieves do what they want since the emergency calls to 911 are not inmediately responded and very often, they are ignored.

Residents of communities, such as La Potosina, Rancho Alegre and others, said that San Roque has become a “dump of the dead”, where gun detonations are heard almost every day, and more oftenly there dead bodies are found in the streets.

Witnesses said that there are two gangs: “Los de Arriba” and “Los de Abajo“, integrated, for the most part, by men ranging from 13 to 25 years old.

They demand more surveillance, public security and patrol cars in the area, day and night.
