Former Mexican President Vicente Fox Quezada (born and raised in the state of Guanajuato) immediately reacted on Twitter, telling Trump not to “escalate” his hate against Mexico.
It’s not the first time a U.S. President sends troops to the border, both Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama have previously called on the National Guard to assist with border patrol.
Trump did not offer specifics for his plan Tuesday, but the move appears to be at least partly motivated by a caravan of more than 1,000 Central American migrants heading toward the U.S. border through Baja California.
