The White House said Tuesday April 3 that President Trump planned to deploy the National Guard to the southern border to confront what … Mr. Trump described existing immigration laws as lax and ineffective, and called for militarizing the border with Mexico to prevent an influx of Central American illegal immigrants.

Former Mexican President Vicente Fox Quezada (born and raised in the state of Guanajuato) immediately  reacted on Twitter, telling Trump not to “escalate” his hate against Mexico.

It’s not the first time a U.S. President sends troops to the border, both Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama have previously called on the National Guard to assist with border patrol.

Trump did not offer specifics for his plan Tuesday, but the move appears to be at least partly motivated by a caravan of more than 1,000 Central American migrants heading toward the U.S. border through Baja California.
