With more than 40 years of diplomatic relations, Mexico and Vietnam are still on the road to strengthening their relationship in all areas, said Pham Van Linh, deputy director of the Department of Propaganda and Education of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam (PCV).
During a work tour in Mexico on April 19, the also permanent deputy director of the National Directorate of Foreign Information, informed that the location of both countries is strategic for the continents of America and Asia, which favors the joint development.
“We are located in two different places on the world map. I think Mexico has an important place in America and Vietnam has an important place in Asia. They are very similar countries and in recent years the relationship has been very fruitful,” said Van Linh.
Vietnam is the fifth commercial partner of Mexico in the Asia-Pacific region, and Mexico is Vietnam’s first commercial partner from Latin America.
Since 1975 they maintain diplomatic relations and according to figures of the meeting held by the President of Mexico, Enrique Peña Nieto and his Vietnamese counterpart, Tran Dai Quang, prior to the start of the XXV Meeting of Leaders of the Asia-Pacific Cooperation Forum (APEC), its Commercial relationship in the last five years grew 33 percent annually and reached five billion dollars in 2016.
The two nations have signed several agreements on scientific and technological cooperation, agriculture, health, culture, education, elimination of the visa requirement for holders of diplomatic passports and officials of both nations, among others.
“Within the framework of this relationship, Notimex, News Agency of the Mexican State, and the Vietnam News Agency, VNA, have had an agreement for cooperation and exchange of information, photos and video, for almost a decade, which is intended to be expanded in the coming years”, announced the Ambassador of Vietnam in Mexico, Nguyen Huai Duong.
“Regarding the relations between the Vietnamese agency and Notimex, we can say that in spite of a short time of establishing relationships, we have developed very efficient ties, especially through the exchange of written news, photo and video,” the ambassador continued.
“Thanks to this favorable situation,” he added, “the Vietnamese and the Mexican people are getting to know each other, and with this agreement we contribute to improve the relations between both countries governments and people,” said Nguyen Huai, also former director of Vietnam News Agency.
Derived from this cooperation, Notimex, through its general director, Alejandro Ramos, obtained a special recognition for a work on the Asian country.
The delegation of Vietnam, made up of other important officials from that country, made a special visit to the Notimex headquarters, to exchange work methodologies and promote a bilateral cooperation.
