Before the Secretary of the Government of the State of Querétaro, Juan Martín Granados Torres (representing the Governor Francisco Domínguez), and members of the municipalities of Querétaro and San Miguel de Allende, the municipal presidents of these cities, Enrique Correa Sada and Jesús Gonzalo González Rodríguez, respectively, celebrated the act of brotherhood between both localities in commemoration of the union that was created 208 years ago, when the Conspiracy of Independence was discovered by the Spaniards.
“There are determining moments of history, moments that decide the future of a nation, one of these moments happened in Querétaro on the night of September 13, 1810, when the Conspiracy of Independence was discovered by the Spaniards and the plan seemed to be lost”, Correa Sada recalled.

He stressed that in that moment of extreme danger, Ignacio Pérez received the message from Doña Josefa Ortiz de Domínguez that the conspiracy had been discovered and risking his own life brought the news to San Miguel El Grande.
For his part, the mayor of San Miguel de Allende, Jesus Gonzalo Gonzalez Rodriguez, said that for the two sister cities, “the past means commitment, responsibility, pride, drive and momentum, as our tangible and intangible heritage has witnessed as these two peoples have given the country pride and sense of belonging. ”
In the same way, the Secretary of Government of the State of Querétaro, Juan Martín Granados Torres, highlighted that this event is part of our culture and a unique manifestation in our country.
“Since then, Mexico is a nation with roots, identity and future, Mexico is free and sovereign and occupies a space of equality in the concert of nations. Now we have other problems and challenges to face, but also a legacy that leads us to honor our founding fathers and prove that we are worthy heirs of their example” he said.
Finally, a group of athletes from the state of Guanajuato ran the same route that Ignacio Pérez traveled 208 years ago, from Queretaro to San Miguel de Allende.
