The mayor of Guanajuato, Alejandro Saldaña, wants tourists who visit the state capital to spend more money as many of them only arrive at the city, bring their own food, and don’t spend one single peso during their visit, which according to Saldaña, translates into an important economic loss for the municipality.
During an interview with local media, Saldaña affirmed that “everyone is welcome to Guanajuato, but we want a visitor with a higher profile, we want the type of tourist that can leave a much greater economic impact, that can enter the museums, buy handcrafts, eat in a restaurant”, said the mayor of Guanajuato.
