From January 1 until December 31 2019, San Miguel de Allende has positioned itself as the cultural, gastronomic, artistic and historical center of Latin America. As this well-known corner of Guanajuato was named the new American Capital of Culture for the year 2019.
The triumph is added to its two other denominations: Magic Town and World Heritage City by UNESCO.
San Miguel Allende, full of artistic alleys and eternal legends, has conquered millions of people around the world.
With this appointment, Mexico breaks the record of the countries with more denominations of American Capital of Culture since its implementation, in 1998. The previous venues were Merida, in 2000 and 2017; Colima, in 2014, and Guadalajara, in 2005.
