From June 7th to 9th, the seventh edition of the “Festival de la Fresa” (Strawberry Festival) will take place in Irapuato, Guanajuato. This event aims to become a regional and national reference around the iconic produce of the region: Strawberry.
The activities will begin on the afternoon of Friday, June 7, with the distribution of half a ton of “Fresas con Crema” (strawberries with cream) to the general public, at 4 o’clock in the afternoon in the Miguel Hidalgo
square, downtown Irapuato.
At 8:30 at night, a sale and tasting of canapés and strawberry-based drinks will take place on the square, while municipal authorities inaugurate the opening of the Main Plaza, followed by the feature presentation of singer Carolina Ross.
During the weekend, activities will begin at 9:00 a.m. with the collection of strawberries and country breakfast in the courtyard of the Municipal Presidency, headquarters of the event where there will be a Mercadito de la Fresa, live music, artistic events, and other activities.
On Saturday, June 8, at 12 noon, the traditional Dance of the Torito will depart from the plaza Miguel Hidalgo, all the way to the courtyard of the Municipal Presidency. At 8:30 at night the Magna Orchestra Sound Traffic will perform, playing musical themes of blockbuster Hollywood films.
The activities will conclude on Sunday June 9 with a Mariachi band and the award ceremony of the gastronomic contest, in addition to the presentation of Cervantes Show.
Guadalupe González Martínez, Irapuato’s Director of Tourism, sent an open invitation to all citizens to participate in this family event, which seeks to create identity in the people of Irapuato.
