Expat Thanksgiving 2019

Last year on American Thanksgiving… it was the first holiday we celebrated out of the US. I spent most of the day making all of the staples, roast turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, sweet potatoes, pumpkin and apple pies. The boys didn’t really realize it was Thanksgiving, because of course it wasn’t mentioned in school and there’s no Thanksgiving commercials here, it was just another Thursday. When they came home at lunch they were not expecting such a big meal. I wasn’t sure if my Moroccan in-laws would like traditional American Thanksgiving food, but they did! Overall, it was a lot of work and there were only a few moments that I felt really sad not to be with my family. HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
