San Miguel de Allende .– Committed to the health and life of San Miguel residents, the municipal president, Luis Alberto Villarreal García, showed his determination to reactivate the economy in the municipality in a safe way; aware that the damage caused by the contingency could be greater.
Therefore, together with the most important economic sectors, the municipal certificate ‘ Health First ‘ was created, essential to safeguard the integrity of all by having to comply with protocols established by the City Council to safely reopen small businesses in SMA.
Hand in hand with civil society and the productive and economic sectors, more than 80 actions were carried out in favor of public health, economy and well-being of the people of SMA.
Highway filters, sanitizing arches and the Sanitation Army continue to operate, which, from the beginning of the contingency, have been at the frontline as an act of solidarity and commitment out of love for San Miguel, a municipality that also stood out for being a benchmark in applying the mandatory use of face masks in public spaces as a fundamental preventive measure to avoid contagion risks.
Likewise, thanks to compliance with international hygiene standards and anticipated measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus, the city received the Safe Travel Seal ‘ Travel Safety Stamp ‘, awarded by the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC ).
Since July 2, San Miguel de Allende has been accredited with this appointment, which allowed the gradual reactivation of some establishments, including hotels as of July 15, which are an important source of job creation and economy for the San Miguel population.
In addition, with this seal, the international organization recognized the exemplary nature and efforts of the municipality in adopting measures to protect the health of travelers, thanks to the implementation of strict sanitation protocols and hygiene measures in all its establishments and tourist services.
Thus, the city of San Miguel has become the first tourist destination without a beach in all of Latin America to receive international certification.
Tirelessly, the municipality and civil society joined forces to bring food and economic support to the most vulnerable population, to make them see that they are not alone in difficult times. In this way, the municipal president reiterates that, “San Miguel is unstoppable like his heart” and that, thanks to teamwork, great things can be achieved.
