GUANAJUATO – According to data from the Automotive Cluster, the state of Guanajuato ranks fourth in auto parts manufacturing, after Coahuila, Chihuahua and Nuevo Leon.
Experts on the subject, such as the Automotive Cluster and the National Auto Parts Industry, reported that Guanajuato is the fourth largest auto parts producer in Mexico, accounting for up to 10 percent of all auto parts produced.
Meanwhile, competing for the top places, Coahuila remains in the lead with 16 percent of total production, followed by Chihuahua, with 12 percent, and Nuevo León, with 11 percent.
Guanajuato is followed by Querétaro with 6.9 percent, the State of Mexico with 6.4 percent, Puebla with 6.1 percent and Tamaulipas with 6 percent.
On the other hand, in its report at the end of 2022, the National Auto Parts Industry reports that last year the most exported products, with the main destinations being the United States, Canada and Brazil, were harnesses, wires, cables, die-cut parts and bodywork accessories, as well as seats and their parts.
It is worth mentioning that this positive growth is related to the entry of the T-MEC, since it increases the value of regional content. This, in turn, translates into exports to the United States and Canada for US$79.5 billion during 2022.
The sector in general foresees an increase of up to 6.6 percent in exports, so it is expected that this 2023, only the auto parts sector, will close with a total of US$108 billion.
